Madeline Dana Lee is a research geophysicist with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. She focuses on multiscale magnetic remanence modelling and UAV magnetics in complex geologic environments. Prior to NTNU, Madeline was a researcher with the National Research Council of Canada’s Flight Research Laboratory as an aeromagnetic and infrared specialist.

Hugues Henocq

Expert in Underwater Electromagnetic Silencing and Detection, MOD/DGA/GESMA, France

Dr Hugues HENOCQ, PhD gradutated from the French University of Britanny, I am since working as a scientist expert for French MoD/DGA for 28 years. I am mainly in charge of in underwater electromagnetic silencing and detection in armament matters. Nowadays, I am also heading the electromagnetism team.

Hendrik Müller

Senior Scientist, Federal Institute of Geosciences and Natural Resources, Germany

Hendrik is a senior scientist at the Geological Survey of Germany (BGR) and was from 2009 – 2017 assistant professor for marine geophysics at the University of Bremen. He is specialized in marine electromagnetic and magnetic near-surface imaging with research interests in deep-sea hydrothermal systems and seafloor mineral deposits, shallow marine sediments and the development of new marine sensing technologies. Hendrik joined the MARELEC conference committee in 2013.

Eugene Lepelaars

Senior Research Scientist, TNO,
The Netherlands

Eugene Lepelaars is a mathematician who specialised in Electromagnetism. Since 1998 he is with the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) where his focus is on electromagnetic modelling using analytical and numerical techniques. The past 15 years he is entirely dedicated to the domain of underwater electric and magnetic ship signatures for the Netherlands Defence Materiel Organisation. He is a senior scientist, affiliated with the Delft University of Technology, with special interest in applied mathematics, physics, computer science, microprocessors and sensors.

Greg Schultz

Chief Scientist, White River Technologies, USA

Dr. Gregory Schultz is the Chief Technology Officer at White River Technologies. He conducts R&D in marine geophysics to develop and transition magnetic and electromagnetic sensor systems for military and environmental applications. Current research includes marine EM, target recognition and machine learning, autonomous sensing systems, and magnetic inversion and navigation.

Karen Andrea Weitemeyer

Marine Geophysicist, Ocean Floor Geophysics Inc. (OFG)

Dr. Karen Andrea Weitemeyer is a Marine Geophysicist at Ocean Floor Geophysics Inc. (OFG) since 2017 and a visiting researcher at the University of Southampton, UK since 2015.  She earned her B.Sc (Hon) from the University of British Columbia in Geophysics, and PhD from Scripps Institution of Oceanography with a focus on marine electromagnetic methods applied to mapping marine gas hydrate deposits.  While working at OFG, Karen has expanded her expertise to include the measurement and analysis of electric and magnetic fields mounted on AUVs, ROVs and Scanfish aimed at studying: cathodic protections systems of subsea pipelines and structures, hydrothermal vents and seafloor massive sulfide deposits, ship signature, and subsea cables.  While at the University of Southampton, Karen obtained funding for marine EM research projects at the University, graduated two PhD students and currently mentors one PhD student in marine EM methods.

Dr Laure-Line Rouve

Dr Laure-Line Rouve has been working as a research engineer in the Low Magnetic Field Team of G2Elab (Grenoble Electrical Engineering Laboratory, France) since 1997. She is a specialist of the characterization and reduction of low magnetic fields, with applications to ship magnetic silencing, fault diagnosis of electrical devices, medical systems and electrical current sensor design.

Dr Loughlin Tuck

Defence Scientist, Defence R&D Canada, Canada

Dr. Loughlin Tuck, P.Eng holds a B.A.Sc. (2003) and a M.A.Sc. (2005) in Engineering Physics, an M.Sc. (2015) in Exploration Geology, and a Ph.D. (2019) in Earth Science (Geophysics). He has worked in in exploration geophysics for 10 years and for the government of Canada (Natural Resources and Defence Research) for >5 years. His research is in the development of sensors and quantum technologies for magnetic anomaly detection (MAD), geoscience exploration, and positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) applications.

Steven Constable

Professor of Geophysics, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, USA

Steven has worked in the field of marine electromagnetic methods at Scripps for nearly 40 years, contributing to instrument development, data processing, inverse methods, and rock properties. Early studies, which are still ongoing, focussed on oceanic plates and plate boundaries. Mid-career he engaged closely with industry to facilitate the commercial application of marine EM methods to offshore exploration. More recently activity has focussed on marine gas hydrates, permafrost, offshore groundwater, geothermal systems, and submarine massive sulfides. Steven has been on the MARELEC program committee since 2004, and hosted the meeting at Scripps in 2011.

Owen Griffiths

Principal Engineer and Research Scholar, DSTL, UK

Owen Griffiths is a Fellow at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory in the UK. He has a PhD in quantum physics and his research focusses on the understanding of magnetics and magnetic sensing across a wide range of defence, security and geophysical problem sets.
